Artificial intelligence by voice will determine the coronavirus more accurately than rapid smear tests

Dutch scientists have presented an artificial intelligence that can use voice recordings to find out if a person is infected with covid. This method should significantly increase the accuracy of testing, simplify it and make it cheaper.

Available rapid tests show different accuracy based on the brand. Experts have developed an alternative option – AI that detects covid by voice with an accuracy of eighty-nine percent.

To train AI, the records of four thousand three hundred and fifty-two people were used, three hundred and eight of them were infected with covid. Thanks to the breath sounds recorded and uploaded to the app on a smartphone, it was possible to build artificial intelligence models that distinguish between the characteristics of the voice and its change.

Over thirty-six thousand people have provided voice recordings, so the experts are going to further improve the accuracy of testing. In the near future, experts are going to introduce this method into clinical practice.
